Recycling #5 Containers

Drop Off Otherwise Un-Recyclable #5 Plastic at Whole Foods
Preserve, the company creating stylish household products out of 100% recycled plastics, has just announced their new ‘Gimme 5’ recycling program.

They’ve teamed up with organic yogurt maker Stonyfield Farm, and Organic Valley, the organic, farmer-owned cooperative, to make recycling #5s possible through convenient drop-off locations in select Whole Foods Markets in the Midwest, Northeast and Northern California. Whole Foods in Florida will join the program in mid-February.
In addition to accepting #5 plastics, Preserve’s Gimme 5 program accepts Brita water pitcher filters.
All the plastic that Preserve collects will be turned into new products such as their toothbrushes, razors and tableware.

Kudos to Preserve. Take your #5 containers to Whole Foods and share those kudos.

Gore's New Book

Al Gore Set To Publish Sequel Book To An Inconvenient Truth
Our Choice utilizes Mr. Gore’s forty years of experience as a student, policymaker, author, filmmaker, entrepreneur and activist to comprehensively describe the real solutions to global warming. A co-recipient of the Nobel Peace prize in 2007 for his environmental work, Mr. Gore continues to make sense of the pressing issues we face and Our Choice will unquestionably inspire and rally those ready to fight for solutions that were deemed impossible only a short time ago.

In terms of green cred, it comes fully loaded: 100% recycled paper, locally produced and sourced editions, low VOC inks, carbon neutral, and 100% of the proceeds will go towards the Alliance for Climate Protection. Said Vice President Gore, “An Inconvenient Truth reached millions of people with the message that the climate crisis is threatening the future of human civilization and that it must and can be solved. Now that the need for urgent action is even clearer with the alarming new findings of the last three years, it is time for a comprehensive global plan that actually solves the climate crisis. Our Choice will answer that call.”
Sure we have to wait until October/November. But it will be worth the wait.

Did you turn off your lights?

Environmentalists Hail Earth Hour As A Big Success
"The world said yes to climate action, now governments must follow," the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) said a day after hundreds of millions of people worldwide followed its call to turn off lights for a full hour.
WWF called the event, which began in Australia in 2007 and grew last year to 400 cities worldwide, "the world's first-ever global vote about the future of our planet."

"Last night's message from the masses was loud and clear: Delay no more, real action now!"
Before it is too late.
